Ohio Bird Sanctuary

The Ohio Bird Sanctuary is home to more than 60 “permanent residents,” including songbirds, raptors, and vultures. The sanctuary’s rehabilitation program prepares injured and orphaned local native bird species for release back into the wild, and houses those birds who require closer care. The songbird aviary and octagon flight cage allow visitors to observe and interact with the sanctuary’s residents, and four miles of trails wind through the sanctuary for those who prefer to discover the birds in their natural habitat.

Columbus Zoo and Aquarium

Often recognized as one of the best zoos in the U.S., the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium showcases more than 800 species of animals, as well as running a well-established conservation program and environmental education. Under the leadership of “America’s Favorite Zookeeper,” Jack Hanna, the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium has become a model for modern zoos with regards to preservation, education, and conservation. With outdoor and indoor habitats covering more than 400 acres, you may find yourself wanting to return again and again to see it all! (Do check the zoo’s website before going, as visiting restrictions may be in place).
