Gahanna Woods State Nature Preserve

Their website describes it as “perhaps the best remaining complex of buttonbush swamps and vernal pools in central Ohio.” You can take a short, 1-mile hike to enjoy scenes of these swamps, pools, and wildflowers. 

Walnut Woods Metro Park

If you want to enjoy some stunning views of pine trees, then this is the park for you. It has plenty of forest and fields to wander through. You can enjoy almost 8 miles of trails if you’re in the mood for hiking. If you’re more interested in low-maintenance views, there’s an area where you can visit a playground, picnic area, or dog park close to parking and public restrooms. 

Three Creeks Metro Park

This is the park for any water lovers out there. You can enjoy fishing, canoeing, kayaking, and fishing at this park. This park also has some unique natural areas, like prairie land and a natural play area for kids. Enjoy trails, sports fields, and even an amphitheater. 

Blacklick Woods Metro Park

Blacklick Woods Metro Park is one of the most unique metro parks on this list because it has not only picnic areas, walking and biking trails, and great natural scenery but also fitness stations you can stop at, a nature center, and a beautiful golf course. This is the park that truly has it all. It also is part of the Blacklick Creek Greenway Trail. This 12-mile long trail connects Blacklick Woods, Three Creeks Park, and Pickerington Ponds.
